Analytical support for Belgium’s narrative on the transition to climate neutrality by 2050

Mission objectives

To provide the Federal Public Service for Public Health with analytical support for updating the federal narrative on the transition to climate neutrality by 2050.

Achievements and impact

• Carrying out targeted analyses, as requested by the SPF, on recent climate transition issues. These analyses may cover all emitting sectors (buildings, transport, industry, agriculture/soil, energy) and their interactions.
• Conducting literature reviews, qualitative analyses (drivers, barriers, feasibility) and quantitative analyses (model metrics, sensitivity, costs and GHG/energy impacts).
• Producing summary notes, calculation tools and presentation materials that can be directly integrated into national narratives and processes (PNEC, long-term strategy).
