Development and implementation of the TIMES model in Wallonia

Mission objectives

To support the SPW’s Department of Energy and Sustainable Building in the development and operation of the TIMES energy optimisation model at the Walloon level, thereby providing the Region with a robust, representative and transparent tool to inform its decisions on energy and climate: to provide an objective assessment of policies and measures, explore pathways to carbon neutrality by 2050, and support the administration in meeting its European reporting obligations.

Achievements and impact

• Development of the structure of the Walloon TIMES model and the collection and import of the data required for its operation.
• Development of baseline and alternative scenarios for the years 2020, 2030 and 2050.
• Support for the Walloon administration in using the model and in its participation in the international ETSAP network.
