Mission objectives
To define a strategic vision for the N5’s route through Waterloo and translate this into planning proposals. The aim is to make the town centre more pedestrian-friendly by diverting through traffic onto the Ring Road, to develop a high-quality cycling infrastructure, to improve bus journey times and service frequency, and to promote walking and enhance the area’s commercial appeal.
Achievements and impact
- Development of a multimodal scheme illustrating the ‘priority’ strategy between transport modes.
- Preliminary planning to confirm the feasibility of the proposed assumptions for critical junctions;
- Calibration of junctions, and proposals for prioritising buses at signalised junctions
- Budgeting and prioritisation of interventions by stakeholders.
