Walloon climate change adaptation strategy and plan

Mission objectives

Develop the Walloon adaptation strategy, from a long-term vision through to the operational 2026-2030 action plan.

Achievements and impact

• Facilitation of co-design workshops with Walloon administrations and ministerial cabinets.
• Mapping of adaptation issues across Walloon policies and strategies.
• A vision for 2060 and 9 strategic objectives for 2040, based on the vulnerability assessment of Wallonia.
• A 2026-2030 action plan of 20 detailed measures, each with a quantified target, a lead body, indicators, a timeline and a budget estimate.
• Clarified governance: allocation of roles between the European Union, the Belgian federal level, Wallonia, municipalities, provinces and emergency services zones.
