Mandatory energy auditing of large companies
Context
The Walloon government decree of 8 September 2016 establishes a mandatory audit for large companies every 4 years, by transposing Article 8 of Directive 2012/27/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2012 on energy efficiency.
ICEDD has been accredited by the Walloon Public Service and Bruxelles-Environnement.
Objectives
The energy audit aims to:
- Present a report on the energy efficiency of the audited company under real operating conditions;
- Identify potential improvements;
- Assess the resulting energy savings;
- Prioritise improvement measures: assess the appropriateness of an investment intended either to use energy more rationally or to use high-quality renewable energy systems or cogeneration.
Execution
The energy audit, which is mandatory for large companies, is carried out in two main key steps:
- Creation of a distribution table of energy consumption (flow analysis, definition of indicators, etc.);
- Development of an action plan with identification and assessment of energy performance improvement measures.
In particular, ICEDD carried out the mandatory audits of: EVS Broadcast Equipment, VIVAQUA, FN Herstal, Browning International, PolyOne, UCL Namur University Hospital (sites at Saint-Elisabeth, Mont-Godinne and Saint-Vincent in Dinant), Clinique des Frères Alexiens, CHM Mouscron, etc.
