Training on insulation and energy efficiency for architects

Titre de la référence

Objectives

To equip FWB architects and engineers to renovate and construct more sustainable and effectively insulated buildings in line with decarbonisation targets

Execution

For seven groups of 12 architects or engineers, the ICEDD developed and delivered five full days of technical training on building insulation, using a dynamic and interactive teaching style.

This training alternates between theory sessions and
– site visits,
– a factory tour,
– the creation of full-scale construction details on giant panels,
– serious games to enhance learning, particularly using real insulation materials,
– ….

Each half-day of training covered various aspects of insulation:
– climate challenges,
– materials of today and tomorrow,
– construction techniques,
– construction details,
– building pathologies, including condensation and the hygrothermal design of walls,
– the impacts of airtightness and its links to ventilation,
– the environmental assessment using TOTEM and its links and impacts on GRO,
– the energy assessment at building level,
– the links to summer comfort and dynamic simulation
